How can physio help me?

Discover the many conditions commonly treated by us.

Your Initial Consultation will last up to 1 hour including a full assessment (for example using ultrasound where appropriate), and treatment.  At this appointment your physio will explain your diagnosis and provide you with a plan.  If you would like a chaperone during your treatment, please inform the Physiotherapist prior to your appointment so that one can be arranged for you.

Follow-up appointments will last up to ½ an hour.

What can you treat?

Musculoskeletal Injuries

We can treat all joint, muscle, tendon, ligament injuries, both acute and chronic in nature. We will do a holistic assessment of your condition to establish the root cause and aim to effectively treat the cause not just the symptoms.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Diagnostic ultrasound is a service offered by Shaun Rouse in conjunction with a clinical history taking and physiotherapy assessment. This imaging modality is able to visualise structures and complements the clinical assessment to help formulate an accurate diagnosis of your presenting complaint.

Arthritis

Physiotherapy aims to slow the progression of arthritic change by strengthening muscles, and stabilising joints. We can also help manage pain symptoms caused by arthritis with many techniques including acupuncture, massage, joint mobilisations, electrotherapies, taping and braces. We can advise patients on the best activities to stay active and mobile.

Pre & Post Op

Having worked within hospital settings we have extensive knowledge of current surgical procedures. We have close working relationships with many of the Consultants in the surrounding areas and are happy to liaise with those out of area. We are up to date with current post-operative protocols and aim to get you back to activity in the best possible condition after your operation. We also have a strong emphasis on maximising the outcomes from your operation, by getting you ready for your surgery in the weeks prior to your operation.

Sports Injuries

We can assess and treat acute and chronic sporting injuries for recreational and professional athletes. We have extensive experience in a wide variety of sports including swimming, running, rowing, triathlon, rugby, football, netball, golf, basketball, skiing, tennis, horse riding and hockey.
Our goal is to return you to your training and sport as soon as possible and in the best possible condition. We also aim to help prevent further injuries through pre-conditioning and advice. We can advise on bracing and are able to tape patients and teach self-taping techniques where necessary.

Pre & Post Natal

During and after pregnancy women can suffer with pelvic pain and ongoing muscle problems. Here at Boathouse Physiotherapy, we have extensive experience in treating pelvic girdle pain, pubic symphysis dysfunction, muscle separation and pelvic floor problems. We aim to keep you pain free, mobile and strong during your pregnancy in preparation for labour and days with your baby. Please note that post-natal MOTs can only be carried out 6 weeks after your birth and require you to have had a GP check beforehand

Paediatrics

We are experienced in treating children and adolescents with musculoskeletal injuries. We can help after sporting injuries and are happy to liaise with coaches and schools where appropriate. For  patients under 16 years of age parents or guardians will need to be present during assessment and treatment.

Display Screen Equipment

We are able to assess and advise patients at home or in the workplace at their workstation to ensure optimum sitting and working positions. Many ongoing symptoms are linked to working postures and this service is an effective way to manage these problems effectively.
